After having no problems for a long time, proxy arp now seems to be broken
with my ppp clients. Upon login, clients recieve the appropriate IP
addresses, but they can no longer see beyond the ppp server, and nothing
but the ppp server can see the clients. My pppd options indicate the
proxyarp should be used. I've also noticed that I'd get an entry in my
/var/log/messages such as

pppd[1985]: found interface eth0 for proxy arp

But this is no longer the case. I've checked my config files, and there
hasn't been any recent changes to anything in /etc/ppp nor
/usr/local/etc/mgetty+sendfax/. I'm wondering if theres anything I can do
to force it to create the route or if anyone has seen this behavior
before and has a fix. This is ppp-2.3.5, linux kernel 2.0.35.
