Hey... Well, I'm a complete newbie to Linux, but I've been using the help from friends and the HOWTOs, FAQs, etc... but none of them have helped me with this problem. I've set up pretty much everything I need to log on, but it still won't work (as in, the modems would start talking and then nothing would happen), and after fiddling around (putting REPORTs into the chatscript), and looking at /var/adm/messages, I found out it doesn't seem to be even recognizing CONNECT, and thus is timing out before doing anything. In fact, what I -think- the modem is receiving is something along the lines of 'CONN@C@'. Login and password are equally garbled. I know this is probably more a modem problem than anything else, but I don't know where else to take it. My modem is a 56K US Robotics Sportster Faxmodem Internal (not a Winmodem), and I used isapnptools to get it running, and then setserial to set it up. Anyone out there either have an answer to why it isn't working, another place to go where someone might be able to help me, another FAQ or HOWTO, or a suggestion to try? Thanks.
