What does a 'normal' comrpession negotiation look like ?

I'm not sure I can answer this, sice Microsoft doesn't use
"normal" compression (at least as I know it).

does this mean its working or not ? Ive just updated to 2.3.5 and now
have deflate working as well. (well i don't know about working, its
        installed)

The ConfRej that you are Acking means that you have both agreed
not to do bsd compression, and hence have no other choices.

What compression does win95 use ?

95 uses MPPC and STAC. Both of which must be licensed from a
company called "Hi-Fn" (www.hifn.com). NT uses only MPPC. Both
are LZS based, but with vendor specific tweaks.

The non-use of ResetAcks in MPPC is kind of suspect, as it means
that the CCP state machine must "special case" for the use of
MPPC.

        thanks.

        Regards
        Kevin

Well, I've probably only made people more confused and not less
with that information. But don't worry. It is indeed confusing.
You're not missing anything.
