Amen!!

Though here's a less drastic measure: somebody get to the ppp-2.3.x
maintainers. They sure aren't reading this list! Slip 'em a
beer or two, get 'em to put up a ppp-2.3.6.tar.gz at the usual
site, containing:

-- a newer file datestamp in linux/ppp.c

-- that incorrect conditional compile comparison, corrected.

-- a note to maintainers of derivative files, such as the
stock kernel files, telling them NOT to change the datestamps
in their derived files, but instead to submit fixes to
   the ppp maintainers.

Then if the ppp maintainer could only manage to do timely releases,
all would be goodness and joy.

For one thing, it would eliminate a good 15% of the traffic on this
list.

Does anybody know whether there _is_ a ppp maintainer any more?
