pppd 2.3.5 active-filtering

Has anyone ever set the active-filter up and could indicate the proper
way to do it? I'd like to ignore netbios requests and answers, which
are broadcast all the time in my ISP's subnets. It does say something
about the tcpdump format, but I do use tcpdump, but never used a filter.
