oh man. it has been nearly 2 months since i upgraded my kernel from
2.0.35 to 2.1.124 because it was important for me to atleast be able to
access my ntfs partition (which is supported by the 2.1.xx kernel). it
has also been nearly 2 months since i stopped using my wonderful linux
has my primary internet usage OS because ppp-2.3.5 failed to compile at
the 'make'. the amount of genuine help i've received in linux-ppp@ is
fairly discouraging, and so my own success is in direct correspondence
with that :/. i've received some patch instructions, and suspected glibc
incompatibility intructions but either it was way too complex/advanced
for a simpleton like me to understand or it just didn't solve the
problem even if i followed the instructions verbatim.
i am using redhat 5.1 [2.1.124].
here is a 'make 2> error' debug, after of which i have ./configure'd,
'make kernel', built & installed the kernel (at which point i've LILO'd
my new and correctly placed bzImage, but havn't rebooted to the newly
built & installed kernel);
