IP masquerade problem

Hi all

I have troubles setting up IP masquerade. I belive I did all the cofig work decribed in the "IP-masquerae HOWTO" corrcetly,

  • recompiled the kernel with masquerade & firewall support , modules support
  • addded the lines in rc.local
  • the modules are in fact loaded after boot
  • the LAN is setup proper ( ping telnet ftp works fine in the LAN )
  • the client terminals are configured too. ( gateway dvice eth0 , gateway 192.168.1.1 server )
I really dont know how to work around this problem. Could someone give me a hint or recommend a more subject specific newsgroup ?
