Hi,
I am using pppd-2.3.5 with linux 2.0.35. I use my machine for outgoing
and imcoming connections, therefore I setup mgetty.
Incoming connections are working properly.
Outgoing connections are also ok unless I use the option "updetach"
that gives me the option to include the pppd into my shell-scripts:
The exact problem is that - when using the updetach option - the
process id in the Lock-file ("/var/lock/LCK..ttyS1") is invalid
as it is not updated. When pppd starts, the right pid is inserted
into the lockfile but when the connection is up, pppd is detached
and gets a new pid but does not update the lockfile.
Mgetty seems to control if the pid in the lockfile is valid and if
not it takes control (and my connection is shut down) - what is the
real problem.
I tried to look into the source but as I am not very good at "hacking"
so I wanted to ask you for a patch or some tips how to solve this
problem.
Best Regards,
Hermann Himmelbauer
