I've just upgraded from kernel version 2.0.24 to 2.2.3
(all the necessary new packages as described in the
documentation have been installed too).

This machine has an ethernet card and a PPP connection.
The ethernet connection works fine. The ppp connection
works mostly, that is, ping, DNS, traceroute work fine.
A telnet to port 13 of some unix server returns the date.
But a normal telnet (or a telnet to port 80 of some
HTTP server) gives a
        Trying xxxxx
        Connected to somehost
        Escape character is '^]'

However, nothing I enter is sent to the other sid as far as I
can tell. The telnet connection basically hangs at this point.
The same happens with ssh. I still can get out of the telnet
connection by typing '^]' and quit.

The route is correct (otherwise ping would not work, and yes,
I can ping any host on the internet by using its name, so
I also know that DNS works correctly).

When booting the old kernel everything works as expected.

Any idea what may be wrong?

Thanks very much,

Claudio

P.S.: the log files have no error (even with debug set to on
for chat and pppd).
