NO DIAL TONE

Hello All

I'm using (trying to use) KPPP from KDE1.1 on Debian 2.1 system, but how
do I configure it not to wait for DIAL TONE? It says NO DIAL TONE and
doesn't even dial the number.

BTW, I have US.Robotics 56K Faxmodem(I believe it's Sportster) in case
it matters.
