It turned out that the problem I was having in setting up ppp was being
caused by swapdisk not being loaded at boot. I was able to get it to load
by adding the line to fstab. That caused a number of problems to be solved
(mouse, xwindows, and ppp).

But now I have this problem - I dialed in to our isp using ppp and then
started downloading a file using ftp. I noticed that I was unable to login
to any other terminals while downloading (no password prompt would come
up). Then I got bumped off line. I noticed that there were 4 or 5 agetty
processes running and tried to get rid of them using "kill -9 (process)"
but it didn't get rid of them. I tried rebooting to get rid of them and
now I'm unable to login at all - no password prompt comes up.

Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

Thanks.
