Well, I tried the 'novj' option but this way nothing works and after the
link goes up I can't ping or telnet anything. The strange thing is that
I'm using *exactly* the same release of ppp on both ends. Looking into
logfiles of the 'server'machine I noticed this:

Apr 18 23:22:59 dimca20 modprobe: can't locate module ppp-compress-21
Apr 18 23:22:59 dimca20 kernel: ppp0: no compressor for [15 3 29], 3
Apr 18 23:22:59 dimca20 modprobe: can't locate module ppp-compress-26
Apr 18 23:22:59 dimca20 kernel: ppp0: no compressor for [1a 4 8], 4
Apr 18 23:22:59 dimca20 modprobe: can't locate module ppp-compress-24
Apr 18 23:22:59 dimca20 kernel: ppp0: no compressor for [18 4 8], 4
