I've run a few test (including a second computer I have in the office,
which has the same problem with a USR sportster modem) and I narrowed the
problem down to: the modem doesn't send me back the command result. I
tried running the following test: "chat -v '' atz OK atdt9,5551234",
and the output in /var/log/messages is alarms when waiting for the OK from
the modems. I tried to look at the modem settings but everything looks OK.
ATE (command echo) is set to '1', ATQ is set to '0' (print command
results). What am I doing wrong?
