Hi Todd,

I had a very similar problem, and it was a principal reason why I
upgraded my PPP from 2.2.0 to 2.3.7. You are using Redhat 5.2, which I
believe is a 2.0.x kernel. I use slackware 3.4, which is a 2.0.30
kernel. Please upgrade from 2.2.0. There are so many changes, it will
be worthwhile. If you follow the directions exactly in the
"README.linux" file that accompanies the PPPD source, you will be able
to painlessly upgrade your PPPD, despite using an older kernel.

HTH,

Allan
