After installing the latest version of pppd (2.3.8), I had a problem
using it with the "demand " option. I got the following error:

pppd[139]: demand dialling is not supported by kernel driver version
2.2.0

I was told that all I needed to do was recompile my kernel, so the new
ppp driver source would be used. However, after recompiling, I still
got the same error. Is this because the new driver source was not put
into the linux kernel source tree?
If so, must I simply take /usr/src/ppp-2.3.8/linux/ppp.c and replace the
old src file in /usr/src/linux/drivers/net ?
Thanx.
