Can't help with you actual problems (in fact, I can't tell from this message what they are, and I don't remember your earlier posting), but for people in the US, there are handier sources for the HowTos than .au mirrors. Try The Linux Documentation Project at sunsite, URL http://metalab.unc.edu/LDP/HOWTO/HOWTO-INDEX-3.html#ss3.1 . Or try your CD. I'm not sure what SuSE you're using, but my SuSE 5.2 cheapie includes a set of Howto*.rpm files in the Suse/Doc1 folder. So you probably have them installed somewhere, probably somewhere in /usr/doc (exact location varies by distribution and version, and I don't have an installed SuSE to check).
