authentication protocols questions

   Hi 

I have a couple of questions: 

1 - Is there any difference between clients using MS CHAP (Windows
clients) and clients using pppd's CHAP (Linux clients)? 

2 - How can I make pppd use the appropriate authentication protocol
(Windows computers - PAP and Linux computer CHAP)?
