Hi gang,

I have RedHat 6.0 with ppp-2.3.8.
Pentium box with all the current libs.

Here's the problem:
I can connect via kppp (The KDE dialer, of course) and ezppp, but no
other program can pass my password to my ISP.
For example, if I use ppp-on, I turn the echo on to see what's going on
and it shows that it "sees" "Username:." I see that it responds with my
account name.
Then it detects the "Password:" prompt. But it will cannot pass the
password to the ISP.

I say cannot, because if I echo my password to the modem it still
doesn't get to the peer machine.
I have successfully done this echoing in the past and know that it can
be done.
My modem monitoring software (WMifs) shows that the echo is transmitted
to the line when I send it.

Gnome-ppp and ppp-on both seem to have this problem.
I have quadruple checked the settings in all of my dialer programs and
they are all exactly the same.
This is the strangest thing I've ever seen.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
