I've been experimenting with the REPORT feature of chat.  I've found that
if you have REPORT CARRIER as a part of the chat script without the  -r
<reportfile>  option then the CARRIER is REPORTed to the terminal (standard
error according to man chat).  If you have REPORT CONNECT without the  -r
<reportfile>  option then the CONNECT is *not* REPORTed to the terminal. If
you have either REPORT CONNECT or REPORT CARRIER with the  -r <reportfile>
option then it is REPORTed to the <reportfile>.

The question is, am I missing something here by expecting the CONNECT to be
REPORTed to the terminal standard error without the -r <reportfile> option?
