Hi folks,
I have a linux powered dial-in server, running Redhat 6.0, recently upgraded
from redhat 5.2. Under 5.2 I was using kernel 2.0.35 and pppd-2.3.4, and
everything worked just fine. After the upgrade <with kernel 2.2.5-15,
pppd-2.3.7>, dial-in appeared to be working fine, however the remote pc is
apparantly unable to get a route, ie; they can dial-in and connect ok, e-mail
works fine, but they cannot browse the web. I recompiled and installed
pppd-2.3.4 and all is well again. pppd-2.3.4 is the latest pppd I can get to
work, I have tried everything up to version 2.3.8. I want the features of the
newer pppd, does anyone have any idea why one works and the other doesn't? Is
there some different option for the new pppd that I am missing? I might
also mention that I do not use the pppd rpm's, I compile my own pppd from
source. Thanks in advance.
my options file:

-detach
crtscts
lock
netmask xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
auth
login
#refuse-chap
#require-pap
asyncmap 0
modem
proxyarp
idle 1800
ms-dns xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
ms-dns xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

I have tried it with and without the pap and chap lines, I compiled pppd
without support for either.
