I saw it twice, I had ppp-2.3.6 those times.
Since ppp-2.3.7, I think, it's fixed.
I have a small script to detect these multiple routes to same interface.

I never succeeded in making it repeatable, it just happened and I was not
able to understand why.
Now I have kernel 2.2.9 and ppp-2.3.8 since 110 days and it never happened
again.
