Hello!
I was hit by this problem:
When I start pppd with 'persist' option, it dials and all goes fine,
until link is broken. After that it redials again, and after
chat did its dirty work pppd quits immediately with this error:
Sep 11 23:24:08 mordor pppd[1410]: Couldn't create new ppp unit: Invalid argument
Sep 11 23:24:09 mordor pppd[1410]: tcsetattr: Invalid argument
If I restart pppd by hand, all going well till next carrier loss.
This is with pppd 2.3.9 and any of 2.3.X kernel (after switching to
new ppp scheme)
