|On another system, I'm using Slackware 3.5, which installed PPP2.3.3, and

Dunno what the difference in the configuration or pppd version is that
might do cause one to have the messages while the other doesn't. These are
the protocols
8031 Bridging NCP
802b Novell IPX Control Protocol
I noticed in the other reply that IPXCP is noticed but the same
"unsupported" message generated anyway. A general rule for rejected
protocols with PPP is that if you don't know that you need it then you
don't need it.
|I obtained the 2.3.4 version from linux.org PPP howto. I *thought* that

|Do you know where I can get the 2.3.10 version you mentioned?
The originating site is cs.anu.edu.au in pub/software/ppp .
|But it looks like the trouble is the "bad configure-ack". But I'll try
|installing the one you mentioned and following your other pointers...
That one is likely because of the ISP's flawed VJ compression or the lack
of any VJ compression there and faulty completion of the PPP negotiations.
Your last post said you disabled that so this message should no longer
appear.
|I'm really curious about why RedHat install didn't put those aliase lines

I don't run RH.
|Oh, and why arn't tabed over sections good? I didn't think *leading* tabs
|would hurt?
The long lines made it difficult to read and comment on without some
reformating. The simple editor in pine doesn't reformat very well with the
Tabs present too. Maybe other MUAs don't have the problem but I suspect a
lot of others also use pine.
