I've got a red hat 6.1 setup. I was getting this error before in my messages
error log.
modprobe: can't locate module char-major-108
I then added the follow lines to my conf.modules:
alias tty-ldisc-3 ppp_async
alias char-major-108 ppp_generic
the error continued so I added the following line:
alias ppp_generic ppp
the error went away. But the whole (before and after the changes) I was
getting the following error:
The remote system (ppp0) is required to authenticate itself but I couldn't
find any suitable secret (password) for it to do so.
Crazy thing is my pap-secrets file has the entry
user ppp0 secret. The entry is fine. Also this configuration was working
just fine a few days ago, but now all of a sudden it has stopped. Any ideas
on where to look would be greatly appreciated. I'm now seariously thinking
of reinstall the system as I can find no configuration error (and neither
can Linuxconf).
