Hi

I am killing myself trying to get Linux to connect to my corporate domain.
I have read and tried every HOWTO and suggestion I have found and have tried
versions of ppp from 2.3.5 to 2.3.11 with and without patches. I have tried
kppp and scripts with every variation of chap-secrets and options I could
find and a few that I am certain are my own invention.

The error I get is an "Error 691" which implies that my username /password
is wrong but it isn't. I have gone so far as to set up my own NT Server as
a one system domain and I can dial into it just fine regardless of the kind
of authentication it is set to require. When I try to connect to the real
RAS Server (whatever it is) I wind up with the error. I can't see anything
really different in the messages file until the error message arrives.

I am running SUSE 6.1 and have upgraded the kernel, I have installed the DES
library, I have numerous versions of ppp (they all do the same thing).

I have tried different configurations of the chap-secrets file and I do get
different results. Several documents suggested the username should be
"domain\\account-name" but when I use this the RAS Server quits without
requesting my name. It does, however, work with my NT server. Of course it
is the PDC.

I have debug output of connection attempts under different conditions and
can send them to anyone that might be interested but didn't want to include
them if there was no interest. I can try about anything if someone has a
suggestion.

I am hoping that someone has already solved this problem and can bail me
out. I can't understand why the RAS server would have a different idea of
"auth chap 80" than my NT Server does but something is different.

Thanks
Jim
