the defaults of the modprobe command are:
alias ppp-compress-21 bsd_comp
alias ppp-compress-24 ppp_deflate
alias ppp-compress-26 ppp_deflate
So the 2 modules you need are bsd_comp.o and ppp_deflate.o
but I've never seen any Belgian provider using these compression
schemes.

and I've seen some decent modem init strings at http://56k.com
