Hello everybody,
I encountered a very strange problem and
I hope you can help me.
I decided to try PoPToP 1.0.0 - pptp server for linux -
on RH 6.1 running 2.2.13 kernel and pppd 2.3.11
(without MSCHAPv2 and MPPE 40-128 bit RC4 encryption
patches).
/etc/pptp.conf file is:
option /etc/ppp/options.server
debug
localip 192.168.128.2-30
remoteip 192.168.129.2-30
/etc/ppp/options.server file is:
-detach
asyncmap 0
modem
crtscts
idle 720
lock
require-pap
refuse-chap
login
proxyarp
ms-dns 192.168.128.1
ms-dns 192.168.128.35
ms-wins 192.168.128.36
debug
ktune
Just to test how everything will work
both Linux server and NT 4.0 client were
connected through the ethernet.
When NT client is configured with
"Accept any authentication including clear text"
everything is working as expected: only valid
user/password pairs are getting logged in.
When NT client is configured with
"Accept only encrypted authentication"
pppd is not doing any authentication
at all - absolutely everybody is welcomed!
pptpd launches pppd, which sends <auth pap>
to client, but then receives <auth chap m$oft>
and that's it. (see log file below).
What I'm doing wrong?
Thank you very much for your help,
Matt
