Sorry, I just checked with 2.3.11, doesn't work! :o( In case I've done
something stupid, here's what I use:
#!/bin/sh
#
exec /usr/sbin/pppd -detach modem lock crtscts defaultroute debug /dev/ttyS1 115200
connect /etc/ppp/ppp-script hide-password &
