I have been searching for a solution to this one, but all I see are
more questions.
System info:
-Redhat 6.2
-mgetty 1.1.21
-pppd-2.3.11
-pam-0.72
I have pppd setup and I get the usual issue of AutoPPP coming up on
the 'who' listing.
login.config for mgetty is listed as
/AutoPPP/ - - /usr/sbin/pppd auth -chap +pap login -detach name
dialup
this registers nothing in wtmp
/AutoPPP/ - @ /usr/sbin/pppd auth -chap +pap login -detach name
dialup
this registers /AutoPPP/
Now from what i have read, people are blaing pam, others write that pppd
needs to be patched. Apparently mgetty has nothing to do with this
problem. Anyone with some o' so useful guidance? I have had this exact
setup working on older installs.
