Hi,
I'm reposting this msg hopping someone can help me now.

I'm changing a SuSE 6.1 Linux box to a new machine (HP) with 6.2 SuSE
and kernel 2.2.10 patched for the new RAID. The box was doing PPP over a
private line with a ISP.

/etc/ppp/options is empty and ppp-on has the folowing command sugested
by the
provider (working on the old machine):
exec /usr/sbin/pppd debug lock modem crtscts /dev/ttyS1 19200 \
     escape FF kdebug 0 0.0.0.0:0.0.0.0 \
     noipdefault netmask 0.0.0.0 defaultroute \
     passive mtu 1500 mru 1500 lcp-restart 4

/var/log/messages gives
Jun  1 11:10:29 netponto6 pppd[364]: pppd 2.3.8 started by root, uid 0
Jun  1 11:10:29 netponto6 pppd[364]: Using interface ppp-1073743740
Jun  1 11:10:29 netponto6 pppd[364]: Connect: ppp-1073743740 <-->
/dev/ttyS1
Jun  1 11:10:29 netponto6 pppd[364]: ioctl(SIOCSIFMTU): No such
device(19)
Jun  1 11:10:29 netponto6 pppd[364]: tcflush failed: Input/output error
Jun  1 11:10:29 netponto6 modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module
ppp-1073743740
Jun  1 11:10:30 netponto6 pppd[364]: Exit.

cat /proc/net/dev gives a ppp0, and when I call pppd with no pars it
tries to connect ppp0 to /dev/pts. Changing the port changes the big ppp
number. The kernel was compiled with ppp enabled (not as a module).

I did not find help in the HOW-TO nor in the FAQ. Does someone have any
idea about what's happening?

Thanks in advance for any help
