hi there, i got a bit of a problem:

here i am using a RH 6.0 distro with a 2.2.5 kernel and ppp 2.3.7 i
think.
i set up a dial in server with the modem and mgetty (auto ppp working
and everything else needed too) listening to the line.
after reading a lot of HOWTOs an tuts and docs i managed the whole thing
to work, except that li'l problem:

when i try to connect to the dial in server on a win95 box tail -f
/var/log/messages prints out the following:

[....] using interface ppp0
[....] Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS0
[....] modprobe: can't locate module ppp-compress-21
[....] modprobe: can't locate module ppp-compress-24
[....] modprobe: can't locate module ppp-compress-26
[....] CCP terminated by peer
[......] Hangup.
[....blah....]

the win95 box says it couldn't negotiate something about common
protocols or whatever.....not important, this message appears exactly
when modprobe complins about those modules.

so my question: what are these ppp-compress-XX modules? i tried using
the 2.2.14 kernel and the pppd 2.3.11 but that didnt work either. i cant
seem to find any modules other than ppp.o, slhc.o and bsd_comp.o for
pppd.

this is really annoying, has anyone an idea what that could mean?
i am quite new to ppp so please help

thanks anyway.

regards
Andreas Ntaflos
