When I connect with my gnome modemlights applet, using the default
commands

/usr/sbin/usernetctl ppp0 up
/usr/sbin/usernetctl ppp0 down

I get the following output.

As you can see, the first time it connects, it gets an immediate
hangup. It then connects again sucessfully. The modemlights aren't
working or responding at this point. I notice the following in the
process list

100 0 11805 5253 0 0 1104 396 pipe_r S ? 0:00
/sbin/ppp-watch ifcfg-ppp0
040 0 11825 11805 0 0 1104 432 rt_sig S ? 0:00
/sbin/ppp-watch ifcfg-ppp0
100 0 11827 11825 0 0 1524 712 wait4 S ttyS1 0:00
/usr/sbin/pppd -detach lock modem crtscts

If I kill the first ppp-watch process, all is fine - the modemlights
work, the connection is OK, and I can use modemlights to disconnect.

Any ideas why I'm getting two ppp-watches. Is that the problem?

I'm using RH6.1 and kernel 2.2.12-20

Many thanks
Dave
