I can't speak to the 2300 but I have a number of 2100 and 2200 cards
deployed in Linux boxes supporting an enterprise SAN.  The in-kernel
driver in 2.2.x has performed well for me.

As a first appoximation I would try the in-kernel driver and see if
the card is recognized.  I think that Qlogic has Linux drivers that
they have done themselves but I have not used them nor do I know where
to get them.
