Is it necessary to use the first partitions of the disks to succesfully boot from raid1? I have boot and root on the same partition (/dev/md0). In lilo.conf is boot=/dev/md0 root=/dev/md0 When I run lilo (v. 21.7) the boot blocks are written to each partition of the raid mirror without any error. When I am booting lilo hang with LIL- When I am booting with a boot disk or after running lilo with boot=/dev/sda I can boot without problems with the raid disk. I guess that the root/boot partition has to be the first on both disks to successfully boot.
