I tried this test script with kernel 2.2.3 and the RAID patch dated
19990309. I let it run for almost 4 hours with 8 processes on a machine
with the following configuration and got no errors. I also ran two
instances of the stress script with 4 processes on each of the two mirrors
at the same time and got no errors:
ASUS P2B-S motherboard with on-board Adaptec 7890 Ultra-SCSI controller
512MB RAM (4 PC100 128MB SDRAM DIMMs)
PII400 CPU
Kingston KNE100TX ethernet card (uses the 21143 Tulip)
(4) Western Digital Enterprise 4GB Ultra-Wide SCSI drives, two per mirror
(single root filesystem containing everything on one of the
mirrors)--these are connected to the Ultra-68 connector on the
motherboard, using a cable that has an "AMP LVD/SE" terminator at one
end.
(1) Seagate CTT8000 TR-4 SCSI tape drive, connected to the narrow channel
on the motherboard
