One thing to remember is the mylex driver bypasses the scsi layer.
IE tape drives, etc, etc, will not work with it under linux.
It also requires special /dev/ files, fdisk, and lilo.

I would just avoid lilo and use grub. Then again I would just avoid Redhat and
install Debian.

Once you have a Mylex capable kernel and have partitioned it up, it 
should be mostly like a normal install. 
(Warning: I'm not speaking from direct experience here)
