I thought I'd seen a while ago that resync was supposed to be a LOT faster
now.

(Running Linux 2.2.1 with raid0145-19990128-2.2.0.gz)

I've got three 2G disks in a raid5 configuration. After mkraid /dev/md0
/proc/mdstat shows:

Personalities : [linear] [raid0] [raid1] [raid5]
read_ahead 1024 sectors
md0 : active raid5 sdd1[2] sdc1[1] sdb1[0] 4192000 blocks level 5, 32k
chunk, algorithm 0 [3/3] [UUU] resync=10% finish=43.9min
unused devices: <none>

44+ minutes to sync a 3x2G array?? If I extrapolate this for a 3x8G array
(my next effort) that means 176 minutes!!!

What am I doing wrong or what can I do to improve this?

raiddev /dev/md0
    raid-level 5
    nr-raid-disks 3
    nr-spare-disks 0
    chunk-size 32

    device /dev/sdb1
    raid-disk 0
    device /dev/sdc1
    raid-disk 1
    device /dev/sdd1
    raid-disk 2
