I've been haphazardly collecting some benchmark info... or methodology
http://www.linux-consulting.com/Raid/Docs
- see raid_cmd.uhow2
- see raid_benchmark.txt
- have a s/w raid5 on debian-2.1 w/ 5 4.5Gb fireball(?) scsi3-drives
( linux-2.2.3 w/ patches )
- have 3 other hardware raid boxes too that I could run non-destructives tests on...
- donno how to tests it..
- hoping for some non-destructive read/write/seek disk tests
- have heard someone say that running two striped ide drives is 2x slower than
normal ide access... donno...
( I use striped 2striped 8Gb ide drives for incremental backups of each 64Gb
main servers )
have fun
