No, it says quite the opposite, at least how I read it:

Description :
This package includes the tools you need to set up and maintain a software RAID
device under Linux. It only works with Linux 2.2 kernels and later, or 2.0
kernel specifically patched with newer raid support.


The way I read this is that 2.2 kernels are fine, but 2.0 kernels need 
a patch.  I reported this as a bug to RedHat.

Thanks for the tips.  I've got my striped disks running fine now.
