yes, you can reduce the size of blocks by one in ext2fs, as long as the
blocks are 4k or greater, then mkraid will copy disk one onto disk 2, etc.
and the raid SB will takeup its space at the end of the disk.

this only works for raid1 though, cause under raid5 your fs will be larger
than a single disk partition, same goes for raid0.

you can do this under the redhat installer, for those that use RH, by
setting up partitions under fdisk, with the type set to 83, then when it
asks which parts you want to format, dont check any. instead go to the
second vc and run mke2fs on the devices manually, but specify a different
number of blocks. go back to the installer and finish up.

later dont forget to mess with the raid stuff in the init scripts, and to
set the partition types to fd.
