Don't confuse Software Raid (doing RAID without specific
controllers) with *drivers* for hardware RAID controllers.
If you wan't to use (highly recommended) the latest raid
patches, that are completelly different from the raid support included with
a stock kernel, check
http://ostenfeld.dk/~jakob/Software-RAID.HOWTO/Software-RAID.HOWTO.html
You have lots of useful information there, and as for those
patches, it must be the authoritative source of info along with the docs
included with the raidtools-0.90.
Check also
http://www.Linux-Consulting.com/Raid/Docs/
for lots of useful tidbits. The file raid_hw.comments.txt has some
thoughts regarding the choosing of hardware raid controllers for Linux I
posted to the list recently.
I guess the linux-raid mailing list is archived in several places:
http://www.linuxhq.com/lnxlists/linux-raid/
http://linuxhq.jimpick.com/lnxlists/linux-raid/
http://www.kernelnotes.org/lnxlists/ghindex.html
http://www.geocrawler.com/lists/3/linux/57/0/
hope it helps,
