Latest Linux kernel, or latest Red Hat distributed kernel?

You have to patch 2.2 to get full raidtools 0.90 level
functionality. However, Red Hat 6.0 kernels have the correct patch
applied by default. If you stick with Red Hat's kernel (or build your
kernel from Red Hat's kernel-source RPM), you'll be fine. If you want
to roll your own, you have to apply the patches, but everything above
2.2.7 has shown problems with the raid patches (apparently related to
a scheduler update activated in 2.2.8).
