RAID-10 is a RAID-1 mirror of two or more RAID-0 stripe sets (which again
consist of two or more disks each).
There actually is a little benchmark information available in the HOWTO
at http://ostenfeld.dk/~jakob/Software-RAID.HOWTO/, although there's
no specific description of how to set up RAID-10.
Setting up RAID-10 is quite possible using Linux Software RAID. Set up
at least two RAID-0 devices (follow the instructions in the HOWTO), then
set up a RAID-1 mirror of those devices, specifying /dev/md[01...] as
the ``disks'' that make up the mirror.
