So I would like to try the Pentium III SSE version of the xor code
in the raid0145-19990724-2.2.10.bz2 patch.

I see it is #ifdef CONFIG_X86_XMM.
Presumably that is because it uses the new registers.

Can I just turn that on, and expect it to work properly,
as long as I have 0 other code using the SSE stuff?
Or do I absolutely need a more general patch for SSE support?
What is the current state of such patches?
Any luck for 2.2.x rather than 2.3.x?

I'm not expecting (the SSE xor code) to make much difference,
but I'd like to try it.

Thanks,
