Since it looks like each new chunk is generating the raid1 attempt at recovery, it does seem like sdb5 should be removed from md0 automatically and the recovery thread should only get woken up again when you get the drive back into a workable state and "raidhotadd" the partition again. Worst case, it seems like you should be able to "raidhotremove" the partition in the mean time. Is this a raid/raid1 bug? Or desired behavior?
