Redhat 6.0
Kernel 2.2.5-15
3 - 6.1GB Seagate IDE drives
RaidTools-0.90
Raid 5

I have a problem where my IDE drives power down
after a period of non use. They produce a horrible
cla-ching noise as they go down. I'm concerned that
this might corrupt the filesystem, or destroy
the drives over time. I've disabled all power saving
features in the BIOS but this doesn't solve the problem.
I ended up putting in a cron job that touches a file
on the RAID device once a minute. This stops the drives
from going offline. I think someone mentioned a command
that could be put in the raidtab file that would prevent
this but they were talking about SCSI drives. Would the
same command work for IDE drives?

Thanks
