Actually, it's not a raid problem but a 2940U2W problem. It's
affected non-raid as well.

I haven't heard mention of a hardware probe tool for the bug. The
patch mentions 2940U2W generically. I could force failure by making a
large test file (e.g. >1GB or so) and copying a few times. I checked
integrity with md5sum.
The patch is fairly short and easy. Fixed it for me.
