This is all dependent on the $$$. Mylex AccelRAID is fast, but the ExtremeRAID is 
really fast. However there is about a $600 difference. One uses the i960 RISC 
Processor the other uses the StrongARM 233. Plus the Extreme can do 64bit PCI. I agree 
with David, make sure you have a good interface if the bandwidth is needed, and go 
with a Switch not a hub. If you get a Switch with a Module Expansion Port drop in the 
Gigabit support and get a Gigabit card as David recommends. 

In short I would definatly go with Linux over NT for reliability and speed. As for the 
hardware use the savings in OS expense for as much as you can afford.

double check you don't have a bottle neck with network connectivity
though.  (invest in a few 100bT cards or one of those nifty Intel gigabit
critters they released a linux driver for...)


for serious game development though, you'll still want monster local hard
drives for daily work and save work back to the server at the end of each
programmer's coding session.
