Trying to set up RAID-1 I get wrong superblock error.
I have SuSE 6.3, hda: IBM-DPTA-353750, 35772MB w/1961kB Cache, CHS=4560/255/63
hdc: IBM-DPTA-353750, 35772MB w/1961kB Cache, CHS=4560/255/63
...
md driver 0.36.6 MAX_MD_DEV=4, MAX_REAL=8
Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 4560 cylinders as hdc
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 26 208813+ 83 Linux

/dev/hda7 1557 1811 2048256 82 Linux swap
/dev/hda8 1812 4560 22081311 fd Linux raid autodetect
You see: hd[a,c]8 is a logical partition in an extended one!
mkraid --really-force /dev/md2 gives:
DESTROYING the contents of /dev/md2 in 5 seconds, Ctrl-C if unsure!
handling MD device /dev/md2
analyzing super-block
disk 0: /dev/hda8, 22081311kB, raid superblock at 22081216kB
disk 1: /dev/hdc8, 22081311kB, raid superblock at 22081216kB
mkraid: aborted, see the syslog and /proc/mdstat for potential clues.
syslogs says nothing, mdstat tells me RAID inactive!
I.e.: mkraid aborts, no RAID-1 to get running.
Anybody knows some help, please?
Thanks
Torsten
My /etc/raidtab which I also used with mkraid --config...

nr-raid-disks 2
nr-spare-disks 0
chunk-size 8 # I tried different sizes up to 64 k
persistent-superblock 1
device /dev/hda8
raid-disk 0
device /dev/hdc8
raid-disk 1
