Ok, maybe I'm on crack and need to lay off the pipe a little while, but
it appears that sdf7 doesn't have a partition type of "fd" and as such
isn't getting considered for inclusion in md0.  

sde7 failure + lack of available sdf7 == 2 "failed" disks == dead raid5
